Nathan Macintosh: To The Point has “infectious” energy in album we wish was longer

Nathan Macintosh’s To The Point rapidly explores the crazy, off-the-cuff, and always eventful life of the Nova Scotian-born comedian. The near 22-minute performance by the Positive Anger podcast host delves into lessons learned on his journey from the Great White North to our nation’s comedy clubs stages and late night talk shows. Throughout the album, Macintosh is manic, frantic and overwhelming in his live performance. To The Point feels like

Saturday Night Live recap: John Mulaney should always host SNL

John Mulaney is great and this week he made Saturday Night Live great. After spending six seasons as a writer, Mulaney is very at home at Studio 8H. He was wonderful when he hosted SNL last April and the Big Mouth star is always a treat when he pops back in (for example, to review The Mule). Album Review: Sara Schaefer soothes the soul in Live Laugh Love

When you first look at the cover art for Sara Schaefer’s second comedy album Live Laugh Love, you would think you were about to listen to an Elizabeth Gilbert-esque sage tell the story of how she embarked on an internal, spiritual breakthrough that’s universally relatable to a wide audience. However, after listening to the Virginia-born comedian’s hour-long set, you will experience something more enjoyable and possibly more soothing for the

Review: Roy Wood Jr., “No One Loves You” on Comedy Central

Roy Wood Jr. made what I still believe was the best stand-up comedy special of 2017. For his second hour on Comedy Central, No One Loves You, the comedian and correspondent on The Daily Show opens with a flair for the dramatic. The lights come up insid…

Review: Chris Distefano, “Size 38 Waist” on Comedy Central

Chris Distefano comes out of old-school New York City. How old school? The Bronx-born actor Chazz Palminteri introduces him onstage for his first hour special, Size 38 Waist, and also appears in a pre-opening sketch outside the Brooklyn venue. Distefan…
