Apu Nahasapeemapetilon may be being quietly written off The Simpsons, according to Indiewire. The controversial character was introduced on the eighth episode of the animated behemoth back in 1990. Voice actor Hank Azaria has voiced Apu—as well as a slew of other characters—for almost three decades, for which he has won four Emmys. However, the character has drawn public criticism, especially in recent years, for being a Southeast Asian stereotype. Producer
